Where you and Margaret honeymooned?
Margaret and I were married at her family farm
in Kentucky, a wonderful wedding! We flew out of
Nashville the next day to spend a week at Sea Island...
Lovely! We had a villa by the ocean. I loved it so much...
Margaret was frustrated to find out that my ideal
vacation includes mainly eating, sleeping, watching
movies! No activities at all!! One day we rode bikes
around, but that was it... she still talks about it.
Where you got engaged?
Tough one... unofficially we decided to get married during a long phone call-- no
kidding. I don’t recommend this path. Later, we made an official trip to New York
with my parents to “do it right”. I met Margaret by the “Alice inWonderland” statue
in Central Park, got on my knee, and proposed with a lovely diamond ring. Later we
went to “Phantom of the Opera” and enjoyed a six course dinner with the family. We
met both in-laws at New Orleans for a big dinner celebration (Jim Daddy loved this
kind of thing, he also loved the fact that Margaret’s mother was a sorority sister of
Libby’s at Kentucky... they still remembered each other, and Jimdaddy remembered
Margaret’s dad, Smith). On that same note... Margaret’s parents still remember my
father coming to the Chi O house, standing at the bottom of the stairs and exclaiming
“LIBBY!” as she appeared for their date, she would reply with one word “JIM!” and
they would hug and the whole sorority would say “Awww”.
