Greetings Greystone Girls!
It has been a warm winter at camp. No snow so far, and it is the middle of
February! While this has been a disappointment (I love the snow... it is fun to
shut the office and watch “Lord of the Rings” movies all day), it has also paid
HUGE dividends on our camp preparations.
Cabin 11 has gotten a new porch (much bigger and really cool), the camp
got new gas lines (very scary moment
came when we broke an old gas line and
propane filled the camp!), the carpenters
finished three building projects (Hilltop,
The Vic, and The White House), the
gardeners completed new landscaping at
the pool and mulched the entire campus,
we replaced the siding at the pool,
renovated the climbing wall, and built a
new stone walkway to Dog Camp. This is
much more work than is normal for this
time of year; you will be impressed.
With all this work completed, our
thoughts now turn to the summer and
how we are going to make this year our
BEST YEAR EVER! As always, it starts
with a great group of counselors... check
them out on the website (you can see
them and read a little about them in the
staff section). Kelly Carew does most of
the work involved in finding and hiring
a great staff. Laura, Sarah, Margaret,
and I read all the applications and make
comments... but it is Kelly who interviews
them and really gets to know them. Kelly
is the key; and in this issue of Sparks you
will get to know Kelly!
We hope you have enjoyed the “inside scoop” that we have shared in the
Sparks this year. The next issue will be all about the 2012 summer... it is almost
here... Get Excited!
